Owner & Artistic Director
"Be Creative, Be Confident and Be Bold."
When you meet Donna, you'll find an inspiring businesswoman and professional salon educator. With her unique blend of style, mentoring and management, she is the guiding force behind RIAH Hair Studio.
Her appealing personality and passion for the salon industry has resulted in a progression of salons each encompassing the dynamic concepts of hair design, color and care. Donna is widely-known and respected for her in-house apprenticeship programs that mentor and coach the next generation of stylists. Donna pursues excellence in all facets of her life. Whether navigating the demands of being a mother to a pre-teen, fostering the development of her current business projects and staff, or planning her next entrepreneurial venture, she's the epitome of a busy Bucks County, Pennsylvania woman.
Dreaming of becoming an artistic designer from a young age, Donna has successfully seen her goals realized. She effectively manages her personal involvement as the creator and owner of four community-based businesses. Her full-service hair salon known as RIAH Hair Studio in Furlong, PA, RIAH Haircare, a complete, sustainably-packaged, professional hair care cleansing, styling and maintenance system, Top Dog Consulting, a small business management consulting group that provides performance guidance and systems setup to owners and, recently, Girl EmPower, a program geared toward teaching pre-teens self-awareness and confidence skills as they enter into their teenage years. Through Girl EmPower, Donna has brought together a team of local professional women from the disciplines of exercise, beauty and life skills with a common mission to share practical tips on grooming, etiquette and confidence. You'll discover there is a common thread that permeates Donna's life, it's her consistent desire to educate and guide others as they journey on their own path towards achieving their own passions.
Since age 15, Donna has been involved in salon life, starting as a Shampoo Assistant. In 1989, as a graduate of Middle Bucks Technical School with a degree concentrating in Cosmetology, Donna has immersed herself as a student of the small business and beauty industry for over 25 years, continuing to this day! She found herself returning to her hometown of Southampton, Pennsylvania opening her own salon, Salon RAGE in 1999, a well-thought, comprehensive, full-service salon supporting the concept of "Right Attitude Great Experience". With the relocation of this studio closer to her home in 2011, now known as RIAH Hair Studio, she is undergoing further expansion of her brand. RIAH Hair Studio resides in a 2,800 square foot renovated space that showcases a modern industrial, "loft boutique" statement of style. Donna proudly employes a staff of over 12 stylists known popularly as the "RIAH Ladies". Soon to open in 2013, she is expanding her space and installing an "on the go" blow-dry bar for local residents in need of a quick wash and style. With no appointment necessary, clients will have the opportunity to start their day looking great before heading off to a business meeting, luncheon or evening engagement.
Striving to differentiate herself in a very crowded industry, Donna has always held a core corporate belief in providing education along with a strong branding framework. This creates a "loop" of positive energy throughout her businesses. She embraces the concept that making others feel better about themselves equates to a better sense of self, in turn translating to a better world. She fosters a dynamic culture of knowledge for her team to explore and then encourages them to educate their clients. It is equally important to Donna that the salon's clients, too, feel comfortable with the myriad of techniques, styles, tools, products and fashion trends. This dynamic cycle supports the full circle of karma that is essential to her success.
As with any conscientious business leader, Donna has an established history of local community support of charities and organizations. She and her staff have generously given both their time and financial support. The philanthropic involvement of RIAH Hair Studio ranges from national fund-raising events to benefit Breast Cancer Research through salon "cut-a-thons" and running a benefit for the "Kisses for Kyle" Fashion Show (www.kissesforkyle.org), helping local children dealing with cancer.
Donna and her daughter, Riley, reside in Furlong, PA. Riley always keeps her grounded in both life and business. She credits Riley for her inspiration in launching RIAH Haircare.
Relaxation? Yes, when Donna needs a break from her schedule, you might find her at her favorite antique auction haunts searching for just the right finds to accent her eclectic lifestyle, supporting local restauranteurs or traveling to New York City for her next inspiration. You won't find Donna resting on her accomplishments too long ... keep an eye open for her next business endeavor!
